The Miscanti and Meñiques lagoons belonging to the Los Flamencos National Reserve are characterized by having volcanoes and mountainous reliefs such as the Miscanti hill and the Meñiques volcano. In addition to the flamingos, species such as the Horned Tagua, Parinas Chicas, Caití, Baird’s Playero, Puna Plover, Pato Juarjual and the Guallata abound. The flora is mainly composed of the Llareta and the Paja Brava. Both lagoons are born thanks to groundwater from melting ice.
